Wardrobe Tips for Your Houston Portrait Session

Good choices in clothing is one of the key elements to a fantastic Houston photography photo session! With the right clothing choices, your photographs will certainly capture each moment to perfection.

For group sessions, clothing should be coordinated so the images flows nicely. Clothing should be kept timeless and simple. Favorites are Jeans; khaki- colored pants; white, black, or solid colored shirts; dresses; gowns; hats and bare feet.

If you choose to wear patterns make sure there are not too many competing patterns. Large busy prints, small checkered patterns, and geometric designs don't always photograph well. It's also great to avoid anything with a logo as that will date an image quickly as the fashion industry changes.

It's also a great idea to plan the outfits at least two weeks in advance. This gives you time to lay them out on a bed, step back, and take a look. Once you are happy with your selections, make sure they are clean and wrinkle free, then set them aside for your session. Not only will it save you time on picture day, but it will also take some of the stress away.

Don't forget about the shoes and the most overlooked item... the socks! Yes, you may not realize it but socks are important; make sure the color is complimentary to your overall wardrobe. Some poses may have you sitting which often shows the socks just a bit. Alternately, you can also go bare feet. Bare feet adds southern charm to a Houston photography session, but it also avoids the need to find coordinating socks while giving the images a more relaxed, laid- back, natural feel.

Clients are also encourage to bring their own props. Adding something personal creates meaningful images while showcasing something special about you. Examples include: a musical instrument, sports items, stuffed bear, a book and reading glasses, or even including the family pet.
